Action Plan: Wildlife Audit 2001| What Is Biodiversity? |
Biodiversity is the variety of life, including the whole range of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates, plants, fungi and micro-organisms. It includes common as well as rare species, and the habitats that support them. Genetic diversity within species is also considered to be valuable. This is particularly important in Staffordshire as a number of species occur in the county at the edge of their geographical range. |
