Staffordshire Biodiversity Action Plan

The Staffordshire Biodiversity Action Plan (SBAP) has been in place since 1998. It is used by a wide variety of partners throughout the county in developing policy, targeting priorities and accessing funding for biodiversity action.

The SBAP consists of the action plan itself but is primarily a partnership that works together towards achieving biodiversity targets. Within a framework of existing and new initiatives, the UK and Local BAPs retain their relevance in contributing and achieving biodiversity targets committed to by the UK government.

Biodiversity Action Reporting System
The Biodiversity Action Reporting System (BARS) is a web-based information system that supports the planning, monitoring and reporting requirements of national and local Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs).

Many of the actions and targets contained within the SBAP are already entered onto BARS and more and more partners are coming on board to report the work and achievements of their organisation.

What's New?
(December 2007)
The new SBAP website is finally launched! It will be the primary communication tool for the SBAP Partnership and everyone who has an interest in biodiversity in the county. If you have any relevant information you would like to share on the site please contact Claire Waterson, the SBAP co-ordinator.
Partner Projects
Please visit the projects pages for some examples of work being carried out by partners to enhance Staffordshire's biodiversity.

One important example of such a project is the South Staffordshire and Lichfield District Hedgerow Project.
